How to reach us

Directions, parking, and hiking trails to the alpine hut

The Messner Hut cannot be reached by car as it is located in the protected alpine area of Pidig. Don't worry, getting here is still easy and convenient.

First, drive to the end of the Casies valley. From there, you can reach the hut on foot in about 50 minutes. The hike is easy and takes you through the beautiful nature of the Gsiesertal.

Alternatively, you can take the bus to the end of the valley and continue on foot from there.

The Rootmoos parking lot is a bit closer to the Messner Hut and therefore perfect if you arrive early. If the Rootmoos parking lot is already full, there are ample parking spaces at the valley end parking lot. Both parking lots are subject to a fee.

With a bike, you can simply follow the bike path of the Casies Valley to the end of the valley and then take hiking trail 49 until you reach the Messner Hut. The ride is not too far, and the path is mostly paved, so you can easily reach the hut with a stroller.
